A Disclaimer:

Hey there!

If you're visiting my site/blog/space here, there's a couple things you should know.

#1: Most importantly, I am not any sort of medical professional!

Not even close!  Nothing I write here should be taken as medical advice.  It's just a place for me to write about things that work (or don't work) for me, and to share my experiences (and favorite recipes.)

I'm not going to try to list carb counts, or nutrition facts on recipes, because very often I don't measure things.  I'll leave it up to you to determine the nutrition/carb content of what you make for yourself.  Things I post here are just to hopefully give you some new ideas to try.

I might post something occasionally that you might not think is very diabetes friendly.  I'm sharing things here that work for me, and everyone is different, and this disease will have progressed to a different point for everyone. Foods that might not spike my sugar as badly may or may not bother you.

#2: I am not an expert photographer!

Although I like to put photos of the things that I make in my posts, they're taken with a smartphone, in my kitchen that's not lit for photography, on the plates that we use every day to eat.  Don't expect super fancy photos here!

#3: I am not an expert chef!

I'm a pretty accomplished home cook, but you're going to see me do things that you might do differently, or choose ingredients that you might not have chosen yourself.  My cooking style is a mix of using convenient ingredients to get something done quickly on a weeknight, to cooking something from scratch when I have the time and desire to spend that time in the kitchen.  I'll often use a jarred sauce, or pre-minced garlic, that kind of thing if it makes sense in the moment.  But I also enjoy actually using my knife skills when the time is right or a recipe just needs fresh ingredients to work.

#4: I am not an expert web designer!

I do work with computers every day, my real job is a network engineer and/or many hats-wearing sysadmin (nerd). I manage the technology department for a k-12 school district.  However web design is (obviously) not my thing.  I put this up on blogger because it was easy to get it going quickly and I could just pick a theme and go.  Come here for the recipes and ramblings...not for fancy design!

So....why should you read/pay attention to anything I have to say here?

You probably shouldn't.  (But I'm glad you're here anyway!)
